Clear the Air Foundation has partnered with the Mile High Hook and Ladder Fire Muster, 9-11, Saturday, June 19 at Arapahoe Community College (5900 S Santa Fe, Littleton). The parade starts at 9 and the muster will run from 10-1.
The Foundation will provide two vehicles for the fire department to use in an accident simulation. They will use the jaws of life to demonstrate an extrication, which will simulate what happens when someone is stuck in a vehicle after an accident.
We are looking for those two vehicles. They don’t have to be in running condition. The closer to the Littleton campus the better, as we have a tow company volunteering to pick these cars up at no cost.
However, I WILL take whatever you have, no matter the location. If you are in a position to help, email me today.
Once they’re finished with the demonstrations, the donated vehicles will be recycled and turned into tools and tuition for aspiring young men and women in their pursuit of a career as an Automotive Technician.

Have you sold a 100% Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) to a consumer in the city of Lakewood? That customer may be entitled to a refund of the 3.0% city of Lakewood sales tax.
During a Lakewood city council this spring brought to light a long-overlooked provision of the municipal tax code. The city lists an exemption from city sales tax, in Section 3.01.430(R) that reads,
“Electric-powered automotive vehicles, including both the original and all subsequent purchases of such vehicles, and batteries and controls required for the operation and maintenance of such vehicles [are exempt from sales tax].”
The tax exemption was mentioned to the city council in light of its upcoming repeal. However, for those customers who purchased a vehicle while it has been en force (July 2017 – present), the Jefferson County DMV required the municipal tax collection before it would register the vehicle. Therefore, dealers were required to collect it.
Through our Coalition to Simplify Colorado Sales Tax, we advocated to Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul to encourage the city issue refunds of tax dollars that were collected, but not owed.
Residents may now fill out a Refund Claim form and email it to Lakewood’s tax auditor with a completed W9 form and copy of the tax collection (DR0024) form refund processing. Download the form here.

Out-of-state salespeople must be licensed to sell in Colorado
Are you bringing in out-of-state salespeople for an upcoming sales event? If YES, be sure they're licensed to sell vehicles in Colorado.
They might be licensed in the home state but rest assured that they must move forward with obtaining a salesperson license in Colorado to participate in any sales activity. Visit AID’s new website for more information.
The year started off strong with a compliance webinar that could affect your bottom line, followed by one that details the ins and outs of buying or selling a dealership. If you missed these webinars, you can stream them through CADA's Education on Demand.

Catch a Break with Disability Income Insurance
Can a team win the Super Bowl without their quarterback? How successful is a hockey team without their goalie? Both of these positions are vitally important to the team — just like the owner of a business. Consider how your family and business could be affected if you were sidelined from your job due to a disability caused by an illness or injury.
While we may not think about it, we often take for granted our most valuable asset — the ability to earn a living. When experiencing a disability, your income may stop and certain expenses may increase. Disability Income (DI) insurance can help provide you with financial resources to help support your family and business needs if you are unable to work due to illness or injury.
Consider this:
At least 51 million working adults are without disability insurance other than basic Social Security coverage.1
Almost 90 percent of long-term disability claims are caused by illnesses and are not work related.2
One in eight workers will become disabled for five years or more during their lifetime.2
An average claim for group long-term disability can last up to 34.6 months.2
A 2014 study identified the following as primary reasons for consumer bankruptcy filings:
Medical Bills: 26 percent
Job Loss: 20 percent
Illness or injury on part of self of family member: 15 percent1
In today’s world, business owners can prepare for some of life’s curveballs. Disability Income insurance may be able to help lessen the financial impact of a disability by providing income that can be used for both business and personal expenses.
Don’t get caught unprepared, make sure your business and family are protected if a disability occurs. Talk to your Federated Marketing Representative today about how you can create a game plan to help protect against life’s uncertainties.
