Join us at CADA Headquarters for an in-person Dealership Electrification seminar!
Sure, you WANT to update your dealership with an EV charging infrastructure. But it's been tough to get answers. To questions like: How do I know if my transformer can accommodate DC fast charging? How do I understand my utility company's tariff rates? Who do I call for a grant? OR worse: I wrote a grant and they turned me down. Now what?
If you've tried to navigate the EV landscape — or you know you should — join us for a special seminar with a panel of experts who will answer ALL your questions about electrifying your dealership, including:
Xcel Energy
ReCharge Colorado Coaches
Colorado Energy Office
Drive Electric Colorado
Drive Clean Colorado
Holy Cross Energy
Black Hills Energy
Designed for dealer principals, general managers and facilities managers, this panel of experts is your one-stop Q&A shop that will answer all your questions about utility tariffs, including Time of Use and Peak Demand charges, on-site infrastructure, key technologies, grants and incentives for charging stations and EVs, along with best practices.
After all, isn't that really why you'll join us at the Annual Convention?
Just ahead of the days of summer where days are long and sunny, and evenings are warm. In fact, it's the first time the CADA Annual Convention will take place in the Spring! Those warm summer days are a great backdrop to catching up with friends and colleagues!
There'll be plenty of time to socialize, starting with the Opening Reception Wednesday evening.
Then there's breakfast Thursday and Friday, just ahead of the morning-only General sessions — another Annual Convention first — followed by lunch and afternoons on your own!
There's even more time to kibbitz as we welcome seven legendary leaders to the Colorado Automotive Hall of Fame Thursday evening!
Really, though, the socializing doesn't start until you arrive. So be sure to register today!
In the past week, many of you have pointed out that the Application for Title has been updated. This change was first announced in the biweekly DRIVES update on March 30, 2022. The revised date is 3-15-22.
CADA was given no prior notice regarding the forms change. This communication with DMV has been a problem persisting through several years and at least five forms changes. We placed an order with our printer to have newer editions forms printed right away.
That said, the existing forms are still eligible for submission for 90 days after the new form is introduced. That would mean you can continue using older applications until June 13, 2022. We will update when our newer editions are put into publication, but it may be two or three weeks until our printer can have them here. Until then, we will continue to ship the existing version. We will cease shipping the existing version 45 days before the deadline to ensure all dealers can deplete their inventories.
We have heard one incidence of a rejection of an older form so far. This came from Douglas County. Upon inquiry, we were instructed that yes, a form was rejected, but this was because it was the 2015 edition, not the existing 2021 edition. If you have any issue with rejections on these forms prior to June, please contact Matthew Groves.
Salesperson License Application Changes
When applying for a new salesperson, or renewing an existing license, motor vehicle salespeople must have a fingerprint on file with the Auto Industry Division. This is so the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation can perform background checks. No license will be issued without a completed background check.
If you do not have a fingerprint on file with the Division, the required DR 2197 form has changed. You must now use the form dated April 1, 2022. Previously, there was some concern that third-party vendors did not want to sign this form for a license candidate. The current version does not require those fingerprinting providers to sign.

Federated Insurance is offering complimentary risk management training for auto dealers on May 24-26, 2022. Through this valuable session, you will discover methods you can use immediately to help protect profits by reducing risk at your business.
Companies that are the most successful at controlling losses and protecting profits have integrated risk management into their overall company culture. Many have designated a key person as their risk manager. This person is supported by your company’s top management and is both responsible and accountable for identifying loss exposures and implementing risk management solutions.
This seminar’s objective is to help your risk manager learn the exposures specific to the auto dealer industry, connect with peers from across the country and apply these best practices within your business.
You can learn more by viewing a brief video about the Risk Management Academy. To reserve your spot in the upcoming session or for more information, please contact drm@fedins.com or call (800)533-0472 Ext. 455-5958. Or, visit Federated's website.
